The service
ClackDash provides free typing tests, word lists and written guides in your browser. There is no account, no subscription and no fee. The service is provided as it is, and features may change or be withdrawn over time.
Your use of the site
You may use the tests for personal practice, teaching, assessment preparation or any other lawful purpose. You may not attempt to disrupt the site, overload it with automated requests, or present its results as certified measurements of another person.
You are responsible for what you type. Do not use the test to enter confidential material such as passwords or private keys; the text lives in your browser, but a screenshot or a shared link is under your control, not ours.
Scores are estimates
Typing speed depends on the keyboard, the task, the language, the time of day and the typist. A result is a measurement of one short session, not a professional assessment or a guarantee of performance in any job.
Content and word lists
The guides and page text are written for ClackDash. The word lists are derived from frequency data for each language and are trimmed to common lowercase words. Quote-mode passages are public-domain texts, and each quote names its source.
You may quote short passages with credit. Do not copy the site wholesale, resell it, or present the word lists as your own original data.
Third-party services
Pages are delivered through a content delivery network, and Google Analytics runs under the regional consent rule described on the privacy page. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies, which apply when their services are used.
No warranty and limits of liability
The site is provided without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site or from reliance on a score it produces.
Changes to these terms

Can I use ClackDash at work or in a classroom?
Yes. The tests are free to use for practice and teaching. If you publish group results, make clear that they are estimates from a short browser test rather than a certified assessment.
Are the scores official?
No. The scores are browser measurements for personal feedback and practice. They are not certified, and no result should be presented as an official typing qualification.
